Who is Thomas Miller?

Since this marks the beginning of blogging on this website, we want to declare our intention up front. 

Letting you understand who Thomas Miller is, what he does, why he does it and how he takes a piece of wood and without a pattern, creates  a piece of fine furniture.  It is much like a cutter takes a piece of exquisite cloth and crafts a fine garment.   I have never doubted what he could do and yet am reminded of his skill when someone asks where he got the pattern.  I’ve never known him to buy a pattern.

The original sideboard was a commission that Tom liked so well he decided to build a second.  There is a real affection between this artist and his medium.  Birdseye and tiger maple are woods that Tom speaks passionately about…it has a mind of its own,  the wood shimmers and dances and when finished it has a rich velvet touch.   The dramatic and timeless contrast of black and tiger maple always leave me awestruck.   Contemporary or traditional the pride of the craftsman is self-evident.
